Zombie

Day 30

--STATS--

Group: The Cranberries

Genre: Alternative rock

Album: No need to argue

Released: 1994

Another head hangs lowly,
child is slowly taken.
And if the violence causes silence,
Who are we mistaken.
But you see, it's not me,
it's not my family.
In your head, in your head,
they are fighting.

With their tanks, and their bombs,
and their bombs, and their guns.
In your head, in your head,
they are crying.

In your head, in your head...
Zombie,zombie,
zombie, ei, ei!
What's in your head, in your head...
Zombie, zombie,
zombie, ei, ei,ei,oh...
Do do do do, do do do do,
do do do do, do do do-oh...

Another mothers breaking
heart is taking over.
When the violence causes silence,
we must be mistaken.
It's the same old thing
since 1916,
in your head, in your head,
their still fighting.

With their tanks, and their bombs,
and their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head,
they are dying.

In your head, in your head...
Zombie,zombie,
zombie, ei, ei!
What's in your head, in your head...
Zombie, zombie,
zombie, ei, ei,ei,oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...
ehehoh....yayaya!!! ( something to that effect)

(One bad ass guitar duo)

Hands down. Dolores O' Riordan is one bad ass chick with a real smart noggin. Not only did she front one of the most success groups from the 90's, but she wrote most of the lyrics for their songs, a lot of them holding a politic meaning or addressing a pressing topic. Plus, she did it all in combat boots. Kudos, Dolores, kudos.

This song was probably one of their most known songs, about the troubles in Northern Ireland & the conflict between those claiming to represent nationalists, & those who claimed to represent unionists ( Roman Catholics vs. Protestant predominantly). Though The cranberries rocked many hits with a dominant bass line, this one sticks out for it's real grunge style. However, it is still completely Cranberries, & the guitar duo in the end is stunning. Truly first rate.

What about you? What does this number mean to you?
