Sante Fe

Day 69

--STATS--

Group: Bon Jovi

Genre: Rock

Album: Blaze of Glory

Released: 1990

They say that no man is an island
And good things come to those who wait
But the things I hear are there just to remind me
Every dog will have his day

The spirits, they intoxicate me
I watched them infiltrate my soul
They try to say it's too late for me
Tell my guns I'm coming home

I swear I'm gonna live forever
Tell my maker he can wait
I'm riding somewhere south of heaven
Heading back to Santa Fe
It's judgment day in Santa Fe

Once I was promised absolution
There's only one solution for my sins
You gotta face your ghosts and know with no illusions
That only one of you is going home again

And I blame this world for making a good man evil
It's this world that can drive a good man mad
And it's this world that turns a killer into a hero
Well I blame this world for making a good man bad

Now I ain't getting into heaven if the devil has his way
I swear I'm gonna live forever
Heading back to Santa Fe
Got debts to pay in Santa Fe
It's judgment day in Santa Fe
Lord have mercy

So I say a prayer when I need it most
To the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
And sign it from a sinner with no name
When I meet my maker
Will he close the book on the hearts I broke and the lives I took
Will he walk away 'cause my soul's too late to save

Now I ain't getting into heaven if the devil has his way
I swear I'm gonna live forever
Heading back to Santa Fe
I got debts to pay in Santa Fe
It's judgment day in Santa Fe

This song is amazing, in my opinion. Love the song. Love the album. Love the movie. Though I do not typically enjoy western themed movies, "Young Guns" & "Young Guns II" actually holds my attention the whole way through. Though history holds the answer, I had to know how it all ended. The movie "Young Guns" details the adventures & trials of the young Billy the kid. The sequel plays out the showdown between Billy & his once best friend, Pat Garrett. I'm sure you all know the story. If you don't, I can't recommend these movies more. It doesn't hurt that it stares Emillio Estevez as Billy. He is the cutest little red-headed man I've ever seen. I don't think many of those exist...

The album Blaze of Glory, by Bon Jovi features music from & inspired by the sequel. The song "Sante Fe" deals with Billies past wrongs, & whether or not they will catch up with him in the end. The battle between right & wrong is something we can all relate to as human beings, no matter what degree that might be. This song is pure ecstasy for the ears. The music exudes the perfect amount of emotion at the right times. What's the result of mixing rock with a full blown symphony: One powerful ballad I can't get enough of. Worth at least one listen.

P.S. Met him in a bar once...Emillio, not Bon Jovi.
