You got it

Day 7

--STATS--

artist: Roy Orbison

Genre: Rock/pop

Album: Mystery Girl

Release: 1989

Every time I look into your loving eyes,
I see a love that money just can't buy.
One look from you, I drift away,
afraid that you are here to stay

Anything you want, you got it!
Anything you need, you got it!
Anything at all, you got it!
Baby!

Every time I hold you, I begin to understand,
everything about you tells me I'm your man.
I live my life to be with you.
No one can do the things you do.

Anything you want, you got it!
Anything you need, you got it!
Anything at all, you got it!
Baby!

Doo doo doo doo doo!
Doo doo doo doo doo!
Doo doo doo doo doo, you got it!
I'm glad to give my love to you.
I know you feel the way I do!

Anything you want, you got it!
Anything you need, you got it!
Anything at all, you got it!
Baby!
You got it!

Tonight, I'm going to make this short & sweet cuz my body is screaming at me. This song is just fun. When I think of Roy Orbison, a plethora of sad, sweet & soothing romance songs that are easy to sing to are what I think of first. His amazing range & great talent to write a simple pop love song also come to mind. Described as something they've never heard before by Elvis & Bono, it's just sad he made such an early exit.

This song by Roy is probably the most upbeat number of his that I can think of other than Pretty Woman. I like this one the most, though. It takes me way back-- back to the days of early childhood. Considering this song came out in 1989 (his last album was actually released the year after his death.), I would say I was about four years old when this was playing on the radio. If I close my eyes, I can picture a boom box ( is that what they were called then?), a large porch, & acres of land. The air is warm, summer most likely. I liked to skip & dance across the porch, singing along to all the songs I knew that came on. It was this song & baby love by Diana Ross & the Supremes I loved to sing the most. I would pretend the porch was a stage, & I was the star of my own little act. It was all good & great until the time my Dad Surprised me from inside the house & started singing along. That was the end of that.

Anyways, if I could make a music video of my past to this song, it would feature scenes like this; Me taking walks through the fields at our old farmhouse property. Riding on the back of a horse with my Mom down our road to the General store. Kicking a soccer ball around with my Dad. My mom & Grandma feeding the baby sheep with glass Pepsi bottles with large nipples attached. Family scenes basically. This songs makes me remember my family, the way I saw it through my young girl eyes.

And what about you? What does this song mean to you?

Ok I admit that I'm the world's least knowledgeable person when it comes to music. I can't tell you titles/artists/lyrics but if I hear a song I can recognize it. Since I'm music ignorant I googled this one to hear a clip and realized that yes indeed I do know this song and yes indeed I happen to like it! I agree with you that it takes me back a ways, and I swear it reminds me of a commercial...
