Her Morning Elegance

Day 51

--STATS--

Artist: Oren Lavie

Genre: Folk Rock

Album: The Opposite Side of the Sea

Released: 2009

Sun been down for days
A pretty flower in a vase
A slipper by the fireplace
A cello lying in it's case

Soon she's down the stairs
Her morning elegance she wears
The sound of water makes her dream
Awoken by a cloud of steam
She pours a daydream in a cup
A spoon of sugar sweetens up

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

Sun been down for days
A winter melody she plays
The thunder makes her contemplate
She hears a noise behind the gate
Perhaps a letter with a dove
Perhaps a stranger she could love

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
Where people are pleasently strange
And counting the change
And She goes...
Nobody knows

This one is an interesting one. What an amazing video. This was this Israeli singers debut album, but certainly not his first production. He has also been a play right & theatrical director since 1997. His video for "Her Morning Elegance" got him a nomination for "Best short form music video" in the 2010 Grammy Music Awards. Definatley up for interpetation, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this one. What part did Oren Lavie himself play in this? And how did the lyrics & actions of the production coincide? Or did they....

The song it's self makes me think of nature. Fresh vegetation, rain on flowers, green grass & blooming gardens. The intro echos & rumbles in my chest. It feels inspiring & makes me think for a moment that anything is possible. It ends as quickly as it began...
