You and I Both

Day 48

--STATS

Artist: Jason Mraz

Genre: Pop (But not the gross Britney Spears kind)

Album: Waiting for my Rocket to come

Released: 2002

Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me
Oh things are gonna happen naturally
Oh taking your advice I'm looking on the bright side
And balancing the whole thing
But often times those words get tangled up in lines
And the bright lights turn to night
Until the dawn it brings
Another day to sing about the magic that was you and me

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
Others only read of the love, the love that I love.

See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages for words
More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now,
Oh love, no
You and I, you and I
Not so little you and I anymore, mmm...
And with this silence brings a moral story
More importantly evolving is the glory of a boy

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now
Well I'm almost finally out of
I'm finally out of
Finally deedeedeedee
Well I'm almost finally, finally
Well I'm free, oh, I'm free

And it's okay if you have to go away
Oh just remember the telephone works both ways
And if I never ever hear them ring
If nothing else I'll think the bells inside
Have finally found you someone else and that's okay
Cause I'll remember everything you sang

Cause you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see me now
well I'm almost finally out of.
I'm finally out of, finally, deedeeededede
well I'm almost finally, finally, out of words.

OK. I just love this slightly goofy cute in a sort of way man. I'm sure that if we had met at some point in our life it would have been instant chemistry. Sigh....oh well. But really, what a great artist. So much positive energy & great vocalization. His music makes me think of a nice Spring day, or a summers afternoon on a sunny warm beach. I love the abrupt beginning & ending on this song, specifically. Though this CD (his first) might have come out in 2002, he has been around a lot longer than that (he opened for Alanis Morrsette during her Jagged Little Pill tour in the 90's), there fore, some of his music has been around longer. I possibly feel I heard this song sometime in the late 90's.

After not hearing "You & I Both" for a few years, this song re-emerged during the late Spring/Early summer of 2005. Good times for me. I worked at The Dallas Abbeys with awesome people, & I lived in an apartment in Salem with my best friend. Truly good times. I didn't have a whole lot of money, but that didn't matter. I only supported myself. This song makes me feel good. Made me feel happy to hear it then, I'm happy to hear it now.

Do you have a happy song? Is this one yours?

This is an acoustic live version.

This one is the original.
